Chocolate layer cake - recipe (including photos)

Ingredients for the dough:
  • 6 eggs
  • 200 milliliters of fresh cream
  • 300 grams of flour
  • 150 grams of sugar
  • 100 grams of butter
  • half of a packet of baking powder
  • salt

Separate the egg whites from the egg yolks.

Beat the egg whites with 50 grams of sugar.

Beat the egg yolks with 100 grams of sugar for a few minutes.
Add the butter at room temperature and the fresh cream and mix.

Add the flour (mixed with the baking powder), the salt and continue mixing.

Slowly incorporate the beaten egg whites.

The composition will be a bit thicker then a pancake composition.

Divide the composition in 3 equal parts.

Bake each of the three parts separately at 180 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes. At the end you will thus have 3 equal layers of baked dough.

Ingredients for the filling
  • 600 grams of milk
  • 200 grams of dark chocolate
  • 150 grams of sugar
  • 150 grams of butter
  • 3 spoons of flour
  • 2 eggs

Boil 500 grams of milk with the sugar and the chocolate, mixing from time to time.

Meanwhile beat the eggs for a few minutes.
Add the remaining milk and the flour and mix.

When the chocolate and sugar are melted and the milk starts boiling add the egg/flour composition.
Mix continuously until it becomes thick like a pudding.
Let it cool!

Beat the butter for a few minutes until it becomes creamy.

Slowly incorporate the butter into the cold filling.

Put one layer on a plate and add the filling. Repeat the operation with the other two layers.

The last layer will be covered with filling ad you can add above it some cocoa powder if you like.

Keep it in the fridge for a few hours before serving it!

Enjoy!
